In 2021 the National County Lines Coordination Centre (NCLCC) approached Pace (Parents Against Child Exploitation) and Barnardo’s TVT regarding the delivery of county lines awareness webinars for parents and carers, following NCLCC recognising a gap in the current awareness and outreach programmes, in that parents have had little engagement. Following a successful pilot of the parent webinars, targeting locations identified by the NCLCC, funding was secured to expanded.

There are 3 sessions within the parent package, the first an introduction to criminal exploitation and county lines, the second a lived experience approach from the lens of the child and following feedback from parents and carers requesting a third session to offer opportunities for the parent to attend with their children a third parent and child session was commissioned and added to the webinar series for 2022-2023.

The sessions are planned for early evening to allow more parents to attend. It is promoted via Eventbrite as well as the option of ringing Pace and booking directly.

The sessions are delivered for 1.5 hours remotely via Zoom, with an hour dedicated to delivery and 30 minutes for questions and discussion.

Help and Support for affected parents is offered throughout the session. Facilitators created a space after the event for those who attended to stay on to speak directly to Pace and Barnardo’s as well as the SPOC for their area. We also offered private direct messaging as well as contact details to follow up with after the sessions
