China Trip Report

This November, a group of 19 children from year 7 traveled over 5000 miles across the globe to Hong Kong and China. This was an unbelievable experience and the very first time not only for Wellfield, but also for a group of this size within North Tyneside.

Two flights (via Dubai) took the children to Hong Kong and from there they traveled over the border to Shenzhen, China.

During the trip, they visited our sister school in China and experienced Chinese lessons and Chinese culture. They formed friendships with their Chinese buddies and were able to experience the music, food and sports of the school. While in Shenzhen, they also visited other local schools, the local park and the amazing light show.

For the last two days, they traveled back to Hong Kong and experienced the bustling crowds of the city at the local markets, visited a Buddhist temple and observed the iconic harbor light show. As a treat at the end of the trip, the children experienced Hong Kong Disneyland before flying home.

Despite the distance travelled and the unfamiliar experiences, the behaviour and conduct of the children throughout the trip was truly outstanding. Members of the public in more than one country commented on their polite and sensible behaviour. This really was a one in a life time experience and the children will have fond memories of the trip for a very long time.
