Lockdown: Keyworkers Letter Jan 2021

Lockdown: Keyworkers Letter Jan 2021

Dear Parents/Carers of Children in School

Following this week’s Government announcement regarding school closures for all but critical workers’ children and vulnerable learners I would like to communicate some operational information for children in school which I hope will help you steer through this current situation.

Following on from the previous term children must come to school at the designated time for their year group. We will follow the usual protocol for absences and lates and this information will be
shared with parents at the end of each term.  We have now established a register for each class and the days we expect pupils to be in school.  Any changes must be communicated to us in advance so that we can amend our records accordingly.

If children are absent through illness or are self-isolating, please contact the school office in the usual way each morning.
All pupils will be taught through Google Classroom.  Fortunately, we adopted this approach from March last year and we expect the majority of our pupils to adapt quite quickly to this once again.

Your child will receive support in school should they experience any issues.

Below is a slightly amended version of your child’s usual timetable which will start from Monday 11/1/21.  The changes  will help us to deliver a more consistent approach within each year group whilst staff work with both remote learners and provide support in school.

We expect pupils to continue to wear their full school uniform unless it is a PE day in which case they are to wear their Wellfield PE kit.

Packed lunches are available in school for those pupils who receive Free School Meals.  However, if any other pupils require a school packed lunch please TEXT ‘packed lunch’ via school comms by
3.30pm Thursday 7/1/21 so that we can order the appropriate number for the duration of this lockdown.

Our Be Spirited lessons will continue as with all subjects.  Be Spirited is a personnel and social education programme which will help pupils explore any anxieties they may experience with the
current situation and support wellbeing throughout this current lockdown period.

Please support your child by ensuring they are fully prepared for school.  They will need:
● A fully charged iPad
● Headphones
● Reading Book
● Water Bottle
● Packed lunch

These are the usual expectations for pupils in our school.
Please contact the school immediately if you have any further concerns as experience has shown us that working together between home and school, providing routine and clear expectations supports both parents and pupils through this less than ideal situation.

Many thanks for your continued support
