History involves the gathering and study of historical evidence from a wide variety of sources.
The National Curriculum places particular emphasis upon the interpretation, evaluation and comparison of source material which often includes information gathered in written, visual and statistical form. The increasing availability of computers in this school has enhanced this approach.
Links with other subjects are strongly emphasised, particularly in the areas of English, Geography, Science, Art and Technology. Children are encouraged to develop their ability to locate and extract information, to detect bias, to analyse and to construct logical arguments. This is designed to promote a deeper understanding of contemporary society by showing how it has developed through the ages.
